AS Media Studies - Music Magazine

The LIIAR analysis of my Brief:
Brief.
Main task: the front page, contents and double page spread of the new multi magazine.
All images and text used must be original, produced by me - minimum of four images.

Language:

  • Masthead - catchy title to been shown at the top of the magazine.
  • A mid shot photograph, which also links to the Masthead ^
  • 2 - 3 different colours which connote the Music Magazine.
  • price and bar code, bottom right.
  • Flash's advertising free prizes and competitions
  • Left third scheme
  • Anchorage
Institution:
  • Don't really know where I could publish it, but I could pretend I am publishing it for a publisher, who also bases their ideas around music.
Ideology:
  • My magazines aim to show people the importance of music. How it inspires our life and how every song has a meaning, and a lot of thought, emotion and feeling, which has gone into just one song (From the artist/artists) to try and relate it to how people are feeling at that present moment. <3
Audience:
  • My target audience hasn't been decided yet, but will become more clear when planning. (From teenagers to early adult hood) 13+
Representation:
  •  Everyone has different types in music, some mixed genres, some fixed on certain music groups and genres. Everyone is different. However, I'm going to make my magazine to be how I would like it to be. Something that would attract my attention and have an affect on my beliefs in music and who I think it is important to. I will also include a target audience because I wont be the only one it's based on. It'l be based on people who like the genre.

Short Snappy masthead: Music*Stars*Style Magazine:
 (image front page)

- The main image (full page) must be an MCU (face and shoulders only) and the subjects face must be able to be clearly seen, and make eye contact with the audience.
The main image: is a mid close up or Dannii Minogue. Making eye-contact with the audience, however there is many other images just as big on the front page, making her less outstanding. I think they may have done this because its a multi magazine of many different things (music, celebrities and fashion) therefore they need to have a wider range of contents involved in the magazine on the cover.

Colors: Pink, Black, Yellow.
If many more colours were used, the magazine cover would look abit TOO colourful.
Connertations of the colours:

Pink: Positive and warm colour, a non-threaterning colour, also known as the 'TLC' colour- Tending loving care.  unconditional and romantic love, compassion and understanding, nurturing, romance, warmth, hope, calming, sweetness, naiveté, feminine and intuitive energy.

Black:

Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery. Black is a mysterious color associated with fear, however it is used as a very formal, elegant and safisicated colour.
Yellow: Yellow is known to be a very happy, natureous, cheerful colour, known to make people joyful - good weather and sunshine :) stand out onto the black and pink background. Used only for flashes and ancorage.
Thumbnail images: Katy Perry 'picks her liverpool 'gurl'
Use of language: has some slang, which gives us a good clue on who the target audience is aimed at. (pink and black)
''Shock exit! Aiden EXCLUSIVE''
''The stakes are higher then ever''
''Cher is shaking everyweek''
''Having a baby chilled me out'' - Danni Minogue.

Basically making us have to read to see what its actually on about. We know alot about the magazine contents due to the giant 'X' factor image and the following thumbnails.  As well as 'Only in X mag' tells us its based on X-factor fans! (SLANG)
Teasing contents along the bottom: AND THERE'S MORE

Here are some ideas and genres on what I would like my 'Music Magazine' to will be like:

Personally I think these magazine covers are amazing.
When planning my front cover I will sure use these as inspiration.
